For my final project, I have opted to build a music box, a automatic music box which physically produced the notes instead of through a speaker.
I have chosen to use a Glockensprial, which is slightly different from a xylophone as it has metal plates for sound propagation.
Glockenspiel:

For the method of hitting the musical plates, I deliberated between having 1 hammer hitting the plate, or multiple hammers hitting the plates.
At the end, I chose to have a single stroke solenoid with spring return on all the plates, actuating to strike the plates.
